I’m back with my sensitive skin or baking soda-free deodorant favorites! As mentioned in my very original deodorant favorites post I hop around from deodorant to deodorant often, sometimes because one might all the sudden seem less effective and sometimes just for the curiosity of trying something new. Actually, when I was trying these 3 out I ended up having all three (plus some others) on rotation throughout the week because sometimes I just wanted a different scent or sometimes I didn’t feel like getting my hands messy so I used the stick version. It’s good to have options, ya know? Anyway, if you have sensitive skin and need to avoid baking soda in your natural deodorant, read on for a few that I’ve tried and liked!
Eczema
Eczema is the pits. And this is the story of how I got eczema IN my pits. (The irony!) But it’s also the story about how I healed it with some natural remedies and how it gave me a clear picture about how what I put in my body directly affects my skin. Due to an unexpected and unpleasant eczema outbreak last year I was forced to go sans deodorant for 2 weeks. Now you might be thinking “the horrah! 😱” but I have to report that it went much better than expected. I, like most folk, have always HAD […]
Goddess Provisions Box: April
Another great box arrived this month from Goddess Provisions! I’m sure I sound like a broken record but they just know how to do it over there. This month’s theme continues the theme from last month but at a more in depth level. Last month’s theme was Ayurveda wellness which is the practice of ensuring health through connection and harmony of the mind and body. In order to keep energies symbiotic and flowing smoothly, Ayurveda suggests ensuring that your chakras (or energy centers throughout your body) are open and aligned. This month’s box is the “Higher Chakra Ascension” box and […]
Goddess Provisions Box: March
Ok, this just might be my favorite Goddess Provisions Box yet! It was jam packed with goodies this time and the theme was so timely and on point – Ayurvedic Wellness. If you’re not familiar with Ayurvedic medicine it’s the world’s oldest holistic healing system developed in India over 5,000 years ago. It’s applies the notion that total body wellness requires a delicate balance of the mind, body and spirit. It’s principle is promoting good health, not fighting disease, so it’s a proactive health approach, not reactionary. I just read a quick description recently explaining that it’s basically the science […]
Winter Favorites
It’s starting to warm up a little bit here in Chicago but I have a feeling winter is going to drag it’s butt all the way to June, teasing us with warmer weather along the way. That means the arrival of humidity is a ways off so my skin is going to stay in winter mode until then too. Due to that I’m sure I’m going to need to keep my favorite winter products handy until June rolls around. Since some of you might still be in dry skin mode too I thought I’d share what my favorite products […]
Put to the test – Round 1
Samples you guys! They are like candy to me. Like if Halloween was just trick-or-treating for skincare samples you couldn’t stop me. I’d be all over that. I’m not joking about my love for samples, I even had a dream last night that I was at a parade and they were throwing skincare samples instead of candy. Can you imagine?! I mean, don’t get me wrong, I LOVE candy too, but I love trying new products even more (ok, maybe it’s a tie). I love sample so much that I will order from companies who sell them or include them […]
Deodorant Faves – Part 1
In the past I put up post on why I made the switch to natural deodorants, which you can read here. In case you didn’t read my post, the in-a-nutshell of it is that I switched over because many conventional deodorants are fully of nasty chemicals that can disrupt normal hormone function and affect ones fertility factor, among other things. Also, sweating is completely natural and is the body’s way of eliminating those toxins that can wreak havoc. I know the switch can be a hesitant one because, you know- smelly BO, but some of them really work!! Since it […]
Goddess Provisions Box: February
The weather last month was so uncharacteristic of a typical February and March has been off to an interesting start too. I’ve loved being able to soak up some vitamin D here and there. It’s been fantastic for my mental well-being! This of course is not necessarily a good sign for the future of our planet, but that’s a topic for a different day. None-the-less it’s got me thinking all about spring and the good things that come with it like flowers and sun! This month’s Goddess Provisions box fit right along with those thoughts of spring. The theme was “Flower […]
Winter Lip Care
Dry, cracked and flakey lips have always plagued me. I love the idea of wearing lipstick and have always been jealous of the everyday wearer, but I generally avoid it because adding lipstick to that mess just plain doesn’t work. It creases, accentuates the flakes and wears off weird, not to mention it’s just hard to apply evenly. I’ve tried TONS of products over the years but many just mask the problem or make it worse or have terrible ingredients that you just end up ingesting. I have finally found a regimen that has healed things up and the results […]
Goddess Provisions Box: January
Dreams are something that can seem far away, or like distant past, child’s play. But as adults you should never stop dreaming, thinking positive or imagining something grand. That is in fact, the only way we move forward, have new experiences, and see different lands. How do you dream when there seems to be so much negativity in this world? You manifest. You manifest the hell out of your thoughts. Manifesting is the idea of visualizing and demonstrating positivity/success/happiness/whatever-other-word-you-like regardless of whatever else is happening. It’s choosing to think happy thoughts or finding the positive in the negative or believing […]
