Does anyone else out there struggle with eyeshadow creasing problems? Ya? Me too. I feel like a spend time carefully getting my eye makeup just right only to have it look like a hot mess of smeared eyeliner and blurry wingtips by the end of the day. It’s especially noticeable when the weather is warmer and everything has tendencies to melt. I also don’t think it helps that I feel like the more natural eye shadows I’ve been using have ingredients in them that may lean a little towards the oily side and contribute to it being a bigger problem than I used to have. To say the least, I’ve been struggling. That is until I found the miracle of all eye shadow primers! I’ve generally avoided eyeshadow primers in the past as I didn’t really feel like they did that much for the money but I recently bought a sample of Erin’s Faces Brightening Eyeshadow Primer and was hooked from the first use.
At first glance it looks like a creamy concealer with it’s skintone coloring. The consistency and application are just like that of a cream concealer too but don’t be fooled, it’s maximum use is definitely as an eyeshadow primer. It’s a powerful makeup must have that helps me get through the day without creasing – hallelujah!
The three main ingredients that help the primer work it’s magic are coconut, beeswax and betonite clay. They combine to make a hydrating yet waterproof barrier that keeps the oil at bay. This also helps to provide a foundation for the shadows that amp up the colors and give your eyes an overall brightened and smoothed out look. I even like to use it when I don’t plan on wearing shadow just for that reason. When I do wear it with shadow I like to put it over my whole lid. You don’t have to put it all the way up to your brow bone but you should at least put it up over your crease since that’s where most of the problems occur. The application is easy and no fuss. I just put a small amount on my ring finger or pinky (a little goes a long way) and smooth it over the problem area. I like to give it a few minutes before putting eyeshadow over it just to make sure it’s set. Then I top it with whatever powder shadow I’m feeling that day (this wouldn’t be as great of a match with cream shadows as those add oiliness to the equation). So far in my testing it’s helped my shadow last at least 15 hours. It easily keeps you looking fresh throughout the workday. The other thing I love about this product is that it removes effortlessly with makeup remover and leaves no residue.
