Ok, this just might be my favorite Goddess Provisions Box yet! It was jam packed with goodies this time and the theme was so timely and on point – Ayurvedic Wellness. If you’re not familiar with Ayurvedic medicine it’s the world’s oldest holistic healing system developed in India over 5,000 years ago. It’s applies the notion that total body wellness requires a delicate balance of the mind, body and spirit. It’s principle is promoting good health, not fighting disease, so it’s a proactive health approach, not reactionary. I just read a quick description recently explaining that it’s basically the science sister to yoga. I love that! And now I’m even more curious to learn more about it because I’ve been really loving my yoga practice lately and tuning into my body’s balance from a science perspective intrigues me. Overall, the items included this month are intended to help you tap into your body’s wisdom and find that inner harmony.
Idiot’s Guide to Ayurveda
I’m most excited about the inclusion of this book in this month’s box. Not only is it a unique item since I’ve never received a book in this box before, but it’s such an informational and handy guide that seems easy to read and understand. It includes history on the practice, a look at the three mind-body types (or Doshas), tips on creating an Ayurvedic routine that’s best for you, advice on eating, information on yoga/meditation/the spiritual side and Ayurvedic healing guidance.
First Impressions: Cannot wait to dive into this book! So glad it was included.
Paavani Tridoshic Spritzer
Doshas are the elemental basis for understanding your body and how to balance it. There are 3 doshas and they are made up of the 5 earth elements: fire, water, earth, air and space. We all have all 3 doshas within us and the idea is to maintain their balance. (This is a quick description, the above book would help explain it further and better) Anyway, this aromatic mist is intended to help harmonize the 3 doshas and bring you inner peace. It’s botanical blend of lavender, geranium, wild orange and cedar atlas is said to bring bliss and harmony to your being.
First Impressions: I’ve already used this during my yoga practice and I love it!
Copper Cup Turmeric Latte
I’ve been wanting to try a turmeric latte and just haven’t gotten around to it so it’s like Goddess Provisions could read my mind when they included this item. These lattes are organic, dairy-free and caffeine free and are made with adaptogens. Adaptogens are spices and herbs that help the body metabolize stress, bringing you more energy, better mood, stress relief and more restful sleep. This version is made with turmeric which helps reduce inflammation throughout your body leading to a better overall balance.
First Impressions: Really excited to try this! Sounds like a nice night cap to me!
Genieco Sandalwood Incense Cones
Sandalwood is a relaxing aroma with a woodsy sweet smell. This incense can be burned to bring you to a deeper relaxed, meditative state for ultimate spiritual healing. Sandalwood is said to relax the heart and throat chakras if you’re in need of that. Research has indicated that the scent can help reduce depression, relieve sore muscles and indigestion.
First Impressions: I like the aroma of this incense and could see using it during meditation or restorative yoga.
Copper Tongue Scraper (the link isn’t the one from the box, but is a similar product)
Goddess Provisions suggests that if you’re only going to add in one ayurvedic practice, that tongue scraping should be it. It “supports good oral health, improves digestion, keeps the immune system strong, enhances the assimilation of nutrients into the body and improves taste!” It’s easy to use, just run over your tongue in the morning to help remove bacteria and buildup.
First Impressions: I already have one of these but appreciate the reminder of the importance of use. I will definitely get back to including this in my routine.
Balanced Guru Scalp Treatment
This is an organic scalp detoxifying treatment that can be applied with a gentle head massage to help relax your mind and body while delivering nourishing botanicals to your scalp and hair. A blend of Oregano, Tea Tree oil and Rosemary essential oils help detoxify your scalp and remove build-up with their astringent properties while Algae, Sea Kelp and Brahmi help rejuvenate your roots.
First Impressions: My first thought was that this would be great for those with dandruff, which I don’t have, but then realized that winter does seem to make my scalp dry and itchy so I’m excited to see if this helps that.
Ahimsa Essentials Zen Oil Blend
This 100% natural and organic essential oil blend is made up of lavender (calming), peppermint (energizing) and bergamot (grounding) that all come together to create a harmonizing aroma that will bring your mind and body into balance. It’s great for stress relief or use at the end of the day for a peaceful night’s sleep.
First Impressions: Always love adding to my essential oil collection and this one is a great blend.
Carnelian Stone
This stone promotes self-empowerment, motivation, endurance, leadership and courage. It’s also said to be a fertility enhancing stone.
First Impressions: Need those fertility enhancing properties. Will be carrying this one with me at all times!
I can’t wait to dig into this box and enhance my wellness and knowledge of Ayurveda! I’ll leave you with the included mantra to get you started on your own road to mind/body/spirit balance journey: I’m aligned in body, mind and spirit.
