Whoa, Easter is quickly sneaking up! April 12, if you’ve been quarantined inside and have lost track of the days (raises hand)! If you’re still working on putting those Easter baskets together and are inspired to shop with small businesses, look no further – I gotchu. 

Wouldn’t you agree that nothing says Easter like a good old fashioned Easter basket hunt? I mean, I know there’s the whole church component (if you’re into that), but that’s not where my best childhood memories of Easter come from. My best childhood memories around Easter were hunting for Easter baskets with clues at home, the candy hunt at my grandparent’s house, and the Easter treat basket with Cadbury Mini Eggs at my other grandparent’s house. We had busy Easters. And lots of candy, hehe. I don’t think everything needs to be about material goods, but the memorable activities included them for me. Things like Easter baskets can certainly create excess so I’ve been thinking about how many sustainable, eco-friendly and heirloom quality options there are out there as option for filling those baskets instead. I mean, sometimes nothing is better than those Cadbury Mini Eggs, but the items on this list could fill in the rest of the basket around the necessary chocolate.  

Easter might look a little different this year (who knows at this point?!), but maybe that just means it’s the year to shake up traditions and including what’s in those baskets. Read on for some eco-friendly, non-toxic, and small-business-supporting inspiration for kids (most of this is for young children since I’m inspired by my one year old)!
