Does anyone else have a tendency to hyper focus on their under eyes? I feel like mine are always puffy, uneven in color and are starting to crease as I get older. Aside from yawing, they are also the culprit of making me look much more tired than I usually am. I’m sure I’m being slightly dramatic, but I do have thinner under-eye skin so darkness can be a little more noticeable, especially in the inner corner. No joke, I’ve even been asked before if I’ve been in a brawl (and I definitely hadn’t been) – if that’s not something that makes you feel extra eye-conscious then I don’t know what would. Aside from physical characteristics that I can’t change (without an eyelift), I also struggle with finding the right color. It’s a fine line between one that is too light and too dark. Most of the skin tone-colored products I tried were never a good match. I had finally found one I loved that was a perfect match for my paler skin with a peach/reddish tint. It was pretty fantastic because the reddish, warm tone basically neutralized any cool tones. However, it wasn’t as clean of a product as I wanted so the search continued.
After several more trials I decided to try Jane Iredale Circle\Delete Concealer in the No. 2 Peach color. I was hesitant at first because the product has two colors in each pan and I really only wanted the peach color. I wasn’t keen on the price for only using half of it and also just the fact that it’s a waste to only use one. But I’m so glad I purchased anyways because the peach color is exactly what I was looking for.
I’ve ended up using mostly the darker peach color alone and it works perfect for me. The lighter peach is almost too pale for my skin but I still use a few dabs to highlight the extra dark areas. It’s my feeble attempt at contouring I guess. Both are included so you can kind of custom match the color to your specific skin tone. My skin tone is pretty pale so at first glance you might think that the dark peach wouldn’t work at all but like the first concealer I loved, the color is neutralized like magic and blends in just right. This specific color is intended to correct blue, violet & grey tones but there are two other color palettes that correct redness or browns & blacks.
This concealer not only provides full coverage but is also conditioning to the sensitive skin around your eye. The under-eye is actually one of the most delicate areas of skin on the body so extra care is necessary to keep it healthy and looking fresh. Moringa butter and avocado oil are the main conditioners and are both high in Vitamins A, C, D and E. Vitamin E specifically is a powerful antioxidant that protects your skin from oxidative damage that contributes to aging. Green tea leaf extract helps calm the skin and provides bacterial protection.
Another reason I love this product is because I had been running into a serious creasing issue with any under-eye concealer I tried. It was incredibly frustrating that I couldn’t avoid it. This concealer has really fixed the problem for me though. As a caveat, I will add that I always set it with this translucent powder for extra creasing protection. Therefore, I can’t say the performance would be the same without it, but I think it would still work pretty darn well.
For application purposes, I generally apply with my ring finger. Whether it’s true or not, I read in Seventeen magazine years ago that the ring finger is the gentlest for applying eye products so I’ve stuck with that philosophy! A little goes a long way and like I said you can always mix the color to extend the product life further if it works for your skin tone.
