January is secretly a month I kind of enjoy (minus the cold weather and any snow of course) because of it’s slower pace. It feels like less is expected as everyone gets back into the swing of things for the new year. I sometimes forget to savor that and enjoy it more. I tried to this year though and it was so nice! Making less commitments, creating less new projects and finishing those that were lingering on the to-do list, and making more overall time for me! I loved that my subscription boxes helped me with that too. They felt lighter and more relaxed too in the fact that there were less reviews that came in and because of the cozy, warm, calming and comforting items that showed up too. Peep below to see my January 2022 subscription box favorites round up of some of those fun items.
As usual, I’ve picked an item to highlight from each subscription box review I’ve done in the last month so you can get a taste for what comes in each. From Nourish Beauty Box (full box review here):
Rain Organica’s Halcyon Roll-On Hand & Body Oil ($16)
“Consists of a nourishing base of Evening Primrose Oil, Chia Seed, Flax Seed, and Pumpkin Seed Oils plus Jojoba and Meadowfoam Seed Oils to replenish dry, cracked skin with a wealth of essential fatty acids..”
This is a unique and creative product type! It’s a roller ball oil for hands and body that makes for super easy application. It smells nice, a bit herbal and floral, and is super convenient for taking along wherever you go. The ingredients sound like they’ll moisturize skin nicely. I just applied it so I can’t confirm how healing it is, but it feels nice on my skin so I’m hopeful!
From Goddess Provisions Box (full box review here):
Wild Rose Herbs New Moon Balm ($12.95)
“This all-natural and vegan massage balm is perfect for anyone experiencing cyclical changes in life and can help ease the muscles and promote a calm environment.”
I’m all about these types of products right now so this is great. I’ve had many body aches and have been enjoying trying out soothing products to help ease aches. I like that this one is totally plastic-free as it’s packaged in a cardboard tube and it smells really nice and soothing. I also like that it’s extra beneficial for cycle pains, a good tool to have on hand at all times it seems.
From The Manifestation Box (full box review here):
Rainbow Onyx Pendant Necklace ($29 value)
You will also find a handcrafted gemstone necklace in each monthly box. It is also made with carefully picked healing crystals based on the energies in the Universe to assist your practice. The “Fresh Starts” necklace this month is made with the most beautiful stone I think I’ve received thus far, a rainbow onyx. I don’t think I’ve even heard of this stone before so that makes it extra thrilling. It’s variegated layers of oranges, creams and greens make it so interesting to look at and it’s faceted shape is perfect as a pendant.
The included information for the rainbow onyx shared that: “The russet red of the rainbow onyx is for grounding, the green is for opening your heart space, and the yellow is for activating your inner power. Onyx is a stone of strength, persistence, willpower, concentration, and positive thinking.” The stone that I got seems dominated by the cream/yellow color with hints of each of the other colors, the orange/red next most noticeable, followed by hints of green. I’m thinking that means my pendant has lots of inner power energies which is great for self discovery and self-creation as inward focus and confidence is needed for that journey. I like this necklace a lot and look forward to not only wearing it, but using the stone for meditations too.
From greenUP Box (full box review here):
HIBAR Moisturizing Conditioner Bar ($13.95)
“You’re about to reduce even more plastic in your bathroom! Introducing HiBAR’s top selling hydration hero, salon-quality conditioner. 100% safe for colored or treated hair. No plastic. Sulfate-free, paraben-free, phthalate-free, silicone-free. Leaping Bunny certified. Curly Girl Method-friendly. Vegan. Thousands of 5-star reviews!”
I’m so glad to see this product in the box too. I think a few boxes back they sent the shampoo bar (which I have been enjoying), so I’m glad to have it’s matching counterpart now too. I actually ended up buying a conditioner bar from them earlier, but it wasn’t this varietal so I’m intrigued to try this one out. This is one of the best hair cleansing bar brands I’ve tried so I’m sure it will be great.
From Earthlove Box (full box review here):
Nourish Nutrition Balm HUNA ($80)
“This vegan moisturizing balm intensely nourishes, replenishes, and protects while promoting healthy healing. Containing 22 all natural ingredients, including organic mango butter, pomegranate, avocado, carrot, broccoli and chia seeds — many of which are grown by the founders of HUNA, Heather and Corrado, on their farm in British Columbia, Canada – this balm hydrates and shield exposed skin from harsh environmental elements like wind andcold. To use: apply a small amount to your fingers to warm and massage over skin, focusing on dry, tight, and inflamed areas. Great for use as a cuticle conditioner, lip balm, andankle/elbow softener.”
This balm sounds so nourishing for skin. I love the simple, organic and natural ingredients it’s made with and it’s mild, comforting aroma. I like it’s light texture and it feels nice on the skin, though it is a bit greasy so maybe better for nighttime application. It’s also great that it’s a multipurpose product so I’m more likely to use it up than any of it going to waste. I don’t live in a harsh cold environment, but my skin is still getting dry and cranky this winter, so I can definitely still use a product like this. I’ll be keeping this nearby for repeated application for sure.
From See New Skincare (full box review here):
Lihau Refreshing Face Mist ($54)
“This exotic scent blend of Hawaiian sandalwood, vetiver, neroli, and blue tansy work together to calm your mind and bring mental clarity and peace. Aside from its beautiful aromatherapy benefits, Līhau is skin tightening, toning, and hydrating and can help fight off breakouts or irritations with its powerful anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory benefits.”
I’m so intrigued by this mist and it’s promise of tightening skin while combating breakouts and inflammation. It’s so refreshing on skin and leaves it feeling soft and hydrated. The aroma is what really keeps me wanting to use it more though. It’s a bit citrus-y, a bit floral and a bit woodsy, but overall very soothing and grounding. This would pair nicely as a precursor to the serum and balm above, setting your skin up for maximum hydration. Oh and I love the intention of it providing calming energies. I certainly feel calmer imagining I’m on a beach in Hawaii after getting a whiff of it’s scent!
