Don’t tell me July is already over?!? I refuse to believe it. But the fact that August subscription boxes are already to showing up in full swing (and the fact that’s it practically mid-August at this point!) must mean it’s true. I guess that means it’s time again for my July subscription box favorites round up. Last month’s boxes were, as usual, filled with interesting, unique, useful, and fun items. I’ve picked an item from each review I did to highlight so you can get a taste for what comes in each. Be sure to click the link to get the full box reviews so you can get the full box details too! Many are linked over A Year of Boxes where you can find discount codes and more if you’re interested in subscribing.

Lhamour. Cold Pressed Flaxseed Oil ($20)
“Plumps the skin and helps to repair lacklustre, flaky complexions. Use to rehydrate dry, itchy skin with its high content of essential fatty acids that prevent the skin from drying out, helping to keep it moist.”
This facial oil is made of simply 100% cold pressed flax seed oil. Talk about a simple ingredient list! The flax seed oil is sustainably grown and sourced in Mongolia. It is cold pressed without any heating mechanisms so that it’s incredible healing properties aren’t destroyed. Flax seed oil is high in omega-3’s so it helps plump and repair skin leaving it looking healthier and more revived. I love the idea of using a single oil on my face as that’s an easy way to know your skin’s reaction to that ingredient and I really could use some skin rejuvenation so I’m intrigued to try this one out.

This Way Face Sunscreen SPF 35 ($15)
“The tube is made of eco-certified plastic. Finally, a facial sunscreen that adapts to your skin tone and doesn’t leave a white cast.”
I’ve been trying to find a new facial sunscreen so this is a perfect item to find in this month’s box! Plus, sunscreen in the summer is essential. This one is made for faces and has a light tint to it. It doesn’t seem to add much color to skin so I’d think it would work for many different skin tones. It’s consistency is lightweight and it rubs in nicely without leaving a sticky or greasy feeling. It smells really nice too, like a sweet mint – refreshing!

Craize Plantain Toasted Corn Crackers
“Light cracker perfect for soft vegan cheeses, guac or hummus”
These look really interesting! And not just because the packaging/branding is great – but because it’s a product type that I’ve never heard of before. They are a larger crisp (maybe 3-4” in diameter) made of toasted corn and plantains that you can add toppings to, add spreads to, or even make a little cracker sandwich out of. Sounds delicious!

Raw Elements Lip Rescue Spf 30
“”I’ve been an Ocean Lifeguard my whole life, and through that experience I discovered how harmful chemical sunscreens are for our personal health and the health of our environment. I was really horrified at this discovery. I went on a quest to find a safe and effective solution, but one just did not exist. After doing a great deal of research, I turned my kitchen into a lab and began formulating my own. My goal was to develop a natural sunscreen that could keep up with the active person and develop a brand that could connect with many different types of people. I really felt there was a huge void and so many people needed access to this type of sunscreen. This process led to the development of Raw Elements USA. We are committed to having a positive impact on all that we do.” – Brian Guadagno, founder”
I’ve tried the Raw Elements sunscreen before but never this lip protection balm so it’s a great item to receive. Lip sunscreen is probably easily forgotten about, but it’s a necessary item for any prolonged sun time during the summer. Lips can easily get burned so it’s important to apply sunscreen to them while outside too. This one is made with all natural ingredients and is completely reef safe. It smells herbal and fresh – I really like the aroma. This definitely has a bit of a thicker texture, but it’s creamy and applies well. It will leave a hint of white cast, but that’s the zinc oxide doing it’ job. I’ll definitely be popping this one in the beach bag for any (if any?) outings we might be able to fit in this year.

Orange Hibiscus Smoothie
“Sunshine in a bottle, minus the tan. ORANGE: Gets you glowing from the inside out; HIBISCUS: Brimming with heart-healthy antioxidants; MAQUI BERRIES; Balance blood glucose to even out energy.”
The ingredient list includes: Purified Water, Bananas, Avocados, Organic Orange Juice, Organic Pea Protein, Organic Hibiscus Powder, Organic Maqui Powder, Organic Chia Seeds, Organic Flax Seeds, Himalayan Salt
Yum! This is a tasty and refreshing smoothie. I really love hibiscus tea so I was excited to try this flavor. Hibiscus tea is a bit tart and crisp, yet fruity and I’d say that it adds those same flavor profiles (although more subtle) to this smoothie. The orange adds texture that’s a bit pulp-like which I don’t mind at all. It of course adds a citrus flavor pop too. The overall texture of this one is pretty smooth, but does have those citrus bits in it.
This one is flagged as being lower in sugar than some of the other options. I’m not too concern about natural sugars, but this one does seem to have about half the amount as many of the others. It certainly doesn’t affect the taste or make it bland or anything. It’s still very flavorful and not at all dull. This flavor seems like a pretty summery blend, but I hope it’s a permanent option because I would definitely order this year round.

Earthlove Sea Found Kit ($25)
“With many of us sheltering in place at home, we’re bringing the ocean to you! Working with beachcombers in Hawaii, California, and Japan, we’ve put together an upcycled DIY craft kit exclusive to Earthlove members, featuring genuine sea-tumbled sea glass, vintage ceramics (some as old as 120 years old!), and natural soft driftwood. These beautiful pieces have been tossed by the waves for years, turning what was once trash into unique ocean art. Now you can make your very own suncatcher or home decor! ”
This is so cool! It’s a craft kit to inspire creativity and is filled with shore-washed sea finds. Each kit is uniquely different and beautiful. Mine has a lovely and soft piece of drift wood and a few pieces of sea glass including a piece of sea pottery that has a pretty pattern on it. It makes me wonder what it’s history is. It also includes a few beads and some twine to help create a piece of art or wall hanging. I love, love, love the ocean so anything that inspires or reminds me of it is more than welcome in my home. I can’t wait to get creative and make something beautiful!

Copper Water Bottle ($35)
“We all need a water bottle and this will be your summer 2020 go to! Research shows the Coronavirus can only live for up to four hours on copper vs. up to seven days on stainless steel. Light weight, antibacterial, and the most stylish water bottle out there, you’ll never leave home without it! Water stored in a copper vessel will also become natural alkaline water. This is our favorite swap of 2020!”
I have always wanted to try one of these water bottles out so I’m really excited to find it in this months box! Not only is it just really pretty to look at, but copper is said to be anti-bacterial and help positively charge your water. In Ayurvedic principles these are said to help balance all 3 doshas in your body. Very cool! Of course, this is such a handy tool for reducing plastic waste too. I’ll be bringing this one with me on the go wherever I roam to in order to keep me hydrated and save using plastic.
From Yogi Secret – 2 because they go together! (full box review here):
Root Natural Shampoo Bar ($10)
“Zero waste refreshing shampoo.”
I love the concept of plastic free hair care and this shampoo bar is as plastic free as it gets. It says it should last up to 90 washes so that will last forever! It’s made with moisturizing argan oil and also smells delightful & unique. I’m not sure how to describe it but it’s made with essential oils of:cinnamon, sichuon pepper, bamboo, sequoia. It’s a bit sweet and very fresh smelling. Can’t wait to try this one out!
Root Natural Conditioner Bar ($10)
“Zero waste moisturizing conditioner.”
Of course I can’t shampoo without conditioning so this item is equally exciting to try out. This is the matching conditioner bar to the shampoo bar above and is also made with moisturizing argan oil (plus a few additional nourishing ingredients). It smells the same and I’m sure will leave hair smells fresh and clean. I’ve always been skeptical of conditioner bars since I’m used to applying a thick cream, but I’m ready to give it a go and see how it compares.
And that’s a wrap on my July subscription box favorites. Check back next month for more favorites! 🙂
