Lady Box is an organic period care box that delivers cycle care to help you feel centered and empowered. They send monthly care packages to ensure you have your best cycle yet.
Lady Box offers several subscription options to match your needs. Keep it simple with a Just the Goodies box, get your basic period needs met with the Basic Needs Box, or treat yourself with the Pampered AF box. Each monthly box is customized to your preferences based on an initial quiz you submit when subscribing. It asks things like if you prefer pads or tampons, how heavy your flow is, or if you crave salty or sweet treats. Then each month they’ll deliver your themed care package that includes things like organic pads or tampons that will be based on your flow, liners and hygiene wipe, organic snacks or treats, and additional pampering items such as bath bombs or clay face masks for a more comforting period.
Lady Box doesn’t just send any old self care, they also care a lot about how their products affect the person and the world, so they strive to only work with brands that use organic, cruelty-free, non-toxic, and sustainable ingredients or materials in their products. They also care about working with brands that care too. They like to choose brands to feature that give back and they love giving back themselves too! Proceeds from each subscription or purchase goes towards different non-profit organizations such as Youth Care, WaterAid, or Period Movement. Each of these organizations work with the marginalized menstruators to provide period equity, safety, sanitation, clean water, and/or free period products.
I was recently lucky enough to win this fabulous Basic Needs Lady Box from an IG contest. It’s packed to the brim with everything to get me through my cycle and then some. The theme for this September box (yes, this is delayed whoops) was all about discovering CONFIDENCE through sexual health and wellness because as they say, self-confidence is sexy AF. The following review isn’t sponsored or anything, I just think it’s a fantastic subscription box so I decided just had to share the contents with you!
Here’s a look at what was in September’s Basic Needs box:
Basic Needs: Pads, Liners, Wipes and Heating Patch
Whenever you subscribe you can choose whether you prefer pads, tampons, or a menstrual cup (I think). I chose pads for this box so the period care kit with the actual items I need to get through my period included pads from Kindfully. They are made with sustainable bamboo and other plant based materials with bio-degradable wrappers and recyclable packaging. I’ve not tried bamboo pads before, but they say they are 15 % more absorbent so I’m curious to try them out.
There were 17 regular absorbency pads and 5 panty liners which I’d say would get you through 5ish days comfortably if you have a not super heavy flow. The kit also contained a Rael heating patch (which I’ve been intrigued to try) and 3 of their organic cotton feminine wipes (which I’ve tried before and liked). This kit seems great for my cycle, though I’d generally use more liners than just the 5 included.
Hibiscus Lip Scrub by The Good Hippie
“Whether you want kissable or just healthier looking lips, this gentle exfoliating blend of sugar, nourishing botanical oils, hibiscus, and rose helps provide softer and smoother lips. The ingredients also offer antiinflammatory and healing properties.”
This is a great non-period item to find in this box! I’ve actually been wanting to try something from this brand, not only because their products look great, but also because they’re based here in Austin where I live too. I love lip scrubs so this one will be a fun one to try out. It has a beautiful color, smells lovely, is made with all-natural ingredients and has awesome plastic-free packaging. I’m sure I’m going to like this one!
Your Vajesty Compact Mirror by Lovability
“We should all celebrate our bodies! Use this compact mirror to get more familiar with your lady bits or to help you apply the hibiscus lip scrub. However you choose to use it, we hope you see your beauty.”
I’m getting major Fried Green Tomatoes vibes with this one. Anyone know what I’m talking about?? It’s totally not a bad idea to get more comfortable with your unmentionable areas as you know, they literally are a part of you and an important part at that. This is a handy mirror either way you use it!
Sweet – Candy Kitten Candy, Tropical Mango
“These are the purrrrfect treats for the sweet-tooth and cat lover. We love citrus flavors for boosting our moods, which is why we chose Tropical Mango. Bonus, these candies are vegan, free from palm oil and artificial colors! We kitten you not!”
Each box contains a treat based on your preferences you chose when you subscribed. I couldn’t decide between the options of sweet or chocolate, so I went with sweet and got these cheeky kitten gummies (was the cat reference on purpose? I’m sure). Either choice, sweet or chocolate, would have been a good choice, but these are purrfect (see what I did there ha). I love gummies and the mango flavor will be great!
Crystal Collagen Gold Powder Eye Mask
These type of eye masks are quick and easy and fun too. Good for a night of self care for sure. I’m not sure the exact ingredients of this product and I typically prefer to know before using, so I’m still undecided if I’ll use these or not.
Lovability Latex Condoms
Well these are the prettiest packaged condoms I’ve ever seen. They almost look like a box of candy or something haha. Probably because they come in such a chic, handy, and discrete tin to carry/keep them in. There’s 3 in the tin and the tin could easily be reused for more product or for keeping something else in too. Love that this is a women owned company!
“I am Worth the Extra Effort” Art Print
Love this cute art print! It’s perfect for my office art collection and is absolutely a good reminder. This would actually be a great print for the bathroom or wherever you do any self care routines too.
Final thoughts:
I had been eyeing this box for a long time and had wanted to try it out and review it. I was so excited to win one on Instagram to be able to do just that! Overall I’m super impressed! I was sent the Basic Needs Box and it’s hardly basic. Of course it includes the basic necessities to get you through your cycle (though I personally would need a few different items like more liners than what were included, but I have wonky cycles so normal cycles should be covered), but it also included so much more. More than I expected actually, and beyond just the necessary “period chocolate” so that was such a great surprise. I thought there’d be maybe 2 extra items, but there ended up being 6 including the art print. That seems anything but basic and makes gearing up for your cycle much more fun!
I appreciate that each month has a theme and offers an opportunity to bring up topics you might not always consider or talk about too. And on top of all of that, I appreciate that the products are conscious and pretty eco-friendly making it align with my personal preferences even more. The best part though, is that this box takes the monthly item of period product shopping off my to-do list and sends it all right to my door, so convenient especially for busy moms like me. I would highly recommend this box and I look forward to checking out their other box options like the Pampered AF box in the future to see what they might contain (I mean, what more amazingness could be included in that?!).
Let me know below if you’ve tried this box before and what your thoughts are! You can subscribe here if you’re interested or if your period needs this too!
