Another month, an other round up of subscription box favorites! It was a quieter month on the subscription box front, but I still found so many treasures on my doorstep. My very favorite thing about subscription boxes (beside the element of surprise) is discovering new brands and products. This month brought some fun new finds from brands I’ve heard of but never tried (like Joolies). It also brought items from brands (like Klei, Revival Body Care, and Elements Truffles) that I have tried before, but ended up being products from their line I haven’t tried – so they helped me expand my collections!
Read on for a favorite from each box I reviewed this month. Be sure to click the link to get the full box reviews so you can get all the details too! Many are linked over A Year of Boxes where you can find discount codes and more if you’re interested in subscribing.
From Nourish Beauty Box (full box review here):
Klei Beauty Nourish Pink Clay Mask ($14)
“Consists of a calming blend of french rose clay, coconut milk and chamomile. This gentle clarifying mask works to soften and soothe the skin.”
I’ve tried one other Klei product before and really liked it so I’m really looking forward to trying out this mask. I really like finding masks in subscription boxes because they are a more universal skincare product than say a serum and they help to add a little purposeful self-care into my routine. This mask is made with coconut milk and chamomile powder so it should be really gentle and soothing to skin.
From Vegancuts Beauty Box (full box review here):
Mahina Beaute Turn on the Light Face Serum ($18)
“A cruelty-free hyaluronic acid that intensely moisturizes the skin.”
This sounds like a really nice serum! It’s made with tamanu oil, seabuckthorn oil, ormus (an alkaline mineral that fights off toxins and provides high vibrational energy) and the essential oils of fragonia, yuzu and blood orange. The scent reminds me of lemon cream pastries – a little citrus, a little sweet and a little warm and almost buttery. It’s said to hydrate, brighten and protect. It’s similar to a hyaluronic acid serum, but is an ethical, cruelty-free, vegan alternative. I’m always in need of moisture and glow for my skin so I’m really looking forward to trying this serum out.
From Vegancuts Snack Box (full box review here):
Joolies Pitted Date Snack-Pack
“Eat straight from the box or add to your favorite sweets & salties.”
I’ve eyed these little date snacks before and have wanted to try them out. Maybe because their packaging is so cute, but also because dates are a great natural sweet treat to help curb sugar cravings. These are organic and just simply dried dates. They are a great source of vitamins and fiber and are said to give a boost of energy. This little 3-pack is perfect for packing in a lunch or for on-the-go.

I’ve been trying a handful of products lately to get my lashes and brows to work but haven’t had a ton of success so I’m excited to have a new product to test out for this purpose! I love that this one is super easy to apply by just rolling on skin – no mess at all. It smells so lovely that I almost want to slather over my whole body (but won’t!). It’s made with lavender and lemon essential oils so it’s scent is calming, but also bright. A nice treat to apply before bedtime in a moment of purposeful self-care. Fingers crossed this one works for me!
And another from Crunchy Mama Box because it’s cute!
thank-u-body Smile Journal
“thank-u-body makes zines (self-published booklets) and buttons that support positive body image, build self-compassion and, self-care ideas. Every time you read one of our zines or wear our buttons, I hope you feel empowered to think about your body in a different way. As if your body were a life-long friend for which you’ve both had some ups and downs and a few tumbles along the way. My name is Kim, I research about body image as part of my Ph.D. and I love to draw, write and make zines! I also struggled with body image for a lot of my life. It’s taken 20 years to learn to be kind to myself and appreciate all the ways my body tries to support me and its quirks too. Body image dissatisfaction can have a huge impact on quality of life. After I became professionally involved with body image I wanted to connect and support my community and create things I could share about body image too. That’s how thank-u-body was born.”
This is so cute and clever! It’s a little mini journal to help uplift and induce positive feelings. The idea is to write nice notes, messages, quotes, lyrics, etc. (that have made you smile) in the spaces provided. Then when you are feeling down or have self-doubt you can read your messages back to remind you that you are loved. This would make a great gratitude journal to keep by the bedside and recount smiles from the day like a happy download before drifting off to sleep. Love this!
From Buddhi Box (full box review here):
Ayurvedic Rose Cardamom Candy Bar from Element Truffles ($8)
“Delicate floral notes with aphrodisiac overlay, based in dark chocolate which is known for it healing properties. This healing treat is infused with cardamom and garnished with sun-kissed rose petals. Enjoy this mystic.”
Chocolate is the best! And this chocolate sounds oh so delicious. This bar is made with simple and organic ingredients including organic raw cacao butter, organic raw cacao powder and just raw honey for the sweetener. It’s flavor comes from rose geranium, cardamom essential oils and it even has actual rose petals sprinkled throughout. So fancy! It smells amazing and I’m sure is going to be a decadent treat! The ingredient combo for this one was chosen for it’s healing properties, it helps bring balance to your being.
And another from Buddhi Box because I couldn’t decide!
Loose Incense from Crystal Crowe ($9)
“Lemongrass, white sage, rosemary, rose petals, and mugwort merge to form a loose incense blend used for smoke cleansing. Clear your space of any unwanted energies. Light charcoal and place a small amount of incense on it. Use in a bowl to avoid any fire danger. See our blog for further instructions.”
I’ve never used a loose incense before so I’m intrigued to try this one out. This mix is a sweet, herbal, earthy blend of goodness and has a healing amethyst crystal tucked inside too. It comes with this charcoal disk for combining to clear negativity and bring peace. Spring is the perfect time to clear everything out to make way for new growth and healing so this item has great timing.
From Splendid Spoon (full box review coming soon):
Mango Guava Smoothie
“Fruity and refreshing with a hint of lime. FLAX SEEDS: Keeps liver function in tip top shape; CAMU CAMU: A superfood packed with antioxidants; GUAVA: Immunity boosting power house, rich in vitamin C.”
The ingredient list for this smoothie includes: Purified Water, Organic Guava, Banana, Organic Mango, Organic Lime, Organic Flax Seeds, Organic Camu Camu Powder, and Himalayan Salt. Wow, this smoothie is delicious! A bright flavor pop that’s sweet and punchy and full of tropical fruit flavor. This is one of their brand new flavors and it is such a good addition to the line up. So far I think this one has the best smoothie texture of all that I’ve tried. Not that any of the others were bad (I happen to love them all, truly), but this one is just a bit thicker and creamier. I also think this one has a flavor that would be liked by almost anyone. Of course, I mean anyone that likes fruit as there isn’t a hint of vegetable or nut flavor involved so it’s a safe choice for those that might be more picky eaters. Even though this is a sweeter choice, I appreciate that the fruits are paired with flax seeds and camu camu for added nutritional value. I’ve read that camu camu is said to help with increasing energy so that, along with the bright flavor of this smoothie, make it a perfect breakfast or morning pick-me-up snack. I would highly recommend this one and would order it again for sure.
There’s my May round-up of subscription box favorites. Check back next month for more favorites! 🙂
