So, I’d been wanting to try out the Oui Fresh subscription box for awhile now. I always eye the enticing emails they send with the month’s preview of goods, I just never jumped on it. BUT, I recently saw the sad news that they are retiring the Oui Fresh brand, including the subscription box and along with that they had a steal of a flash sale for $5 mystery boxes so I finally jumped! The thing I like most about subscription boxes is the surprise element so they really got me with the word “mystery” and the second thing I really like about subscription boxes is the cost effectiveness of them so they really, really got me with the “$5” part. I’m unfortunately a sucker for suprise + beauty + deals. What can I say? I guess I can say that this purchase was totally worth it!
They said they’d send a past month’s box or an assortment of past items and I got a full past month’s box from last spring. I love it and it would have picked it out if I could have so I’m excited about my purchase. Not as excited that this will be my first and last box, but there are a zillion other subscription boxes to try out too. Glad I at least got to try one! They might still have February boxes left and are still shipping for March, but after that it’s adios. So if you’ve been eyeing this box, you’d better get on it!
Read on for details on what was included in my mystery box:
Pure Powder Blush in ‘Pink Lady’ by Au Naturale
This blush is our spring go-to! Equipped with a sprayer to dispense the powder onto your brush or fingers, this muted pink is the perfect touch of color for any occasion and it looks so airbrushed and smooth. Pull off the top cap, and spray directly onto your makeup brush or fingers. If using a makeup brush, tap off excess. Apply to the apples of your cheeks, and you’re ready to glow!
This is a really interesting product. I mean, blush is pretty normal, but the application of this one is different to me. It’s a loose powder blush that’s in a tube with a pump dispenser. When you pump it it poofs out so I wasn’t exactly sure how to apply this at first glance. The package says to spray directly onto a bush or the back of your hand. I think the second option would give more control for application. It’s a really pretty neutral, cool pink color. I think this would be great for every day. It has a simple ingredient list and looks like it would last a long time. I’m curious to see how long it wears.
Cream Cleanser by Corson Beauty
We are smitten with this incredible cleanser! Made with manuka honey, hemp seed, and jojoba oil, you’ll get a deep but gentle cleanse. It’s anti-aging, anti-inflammatory, and beautifully scented with blooms like jasmine and neroli. Massage into wet skin, lather, and rinse with warm water. Pat dry and then apply your favorite toner or hydrating product!
I have been on a real manuka honey kick lately for my skincare so this item is perfect. It’s such a gentle cleanser ingredient with great anti-inflammatory properties and this cleanser sounds extra gentle too with all the added nourishing oils. It smells so delightful, a bit floral, sweet, earthy and grounding. This would make for an excellent way to wash away the day.
Revitalizing Face Toner by JACQ’s
A hydrating floral escape for your skin? Sign us up! This toner from JACQ’s is amazing for making your skin soft and happy. It restores the skin’s pH balance, minimizes the appearance of pores, and cleanses simultaneously. After cleansing, apply by misting face or by transferring toner to a cotton pad. Just be sure to avoid your eye area.
I love using a toner in my skincare routine and always like to try new ones out. This one is a hydrating toner that helps balance skin’s pH. It’s made with many organic ingredients including hibiscus (a natural astringent high in vitamins and minerals, CoQ10 (an antioxidant that helps improve skin elasticity), and burdock root (that aids in clearing the lymph system and is antibacterial). All good things! It smells really nice, light and refreshing. It’s kind of a floral scent with a hint of mint tea. Yum! This would be the perfect toner to start the day with.
Lavender Essential Oil by Oui Fresh
Our bestselling oil! Lavender is incredibly soothing and healing for the mind and body, and this tiny bottle of 100% pure French lavender essential oil has a million uses! Use in the diffuser (pairs well with so many other oils, we love it with fir-needle), with a carrier oil like jojoba or coconut to heal skin or to temples at bedtime, or with a DIY project like a room spray or skincare recipe.
Lavender is probably my favorite essential oil. I mean really, it’s probably one of my favorite scents in general so this couldn’t be a better match! It’s calming and soothing and has so many uses. It’s great to get essential oils in subscription boxes because they do have so many uses and once you get a collection going you can mix them together to create custom scents. Very fun! Of course this exact item won’t be available once Oui Fresh shuts it’s doors, but at least there are tons of other sources to get a fix!
Mint Tint Lip Balm by Oui Fresh
Our Mint Tint Balm is an EXCLUSIVE Oui Fresh Beauty Box product for the month of March. It’s the subtlest hint of deep rose and is, like all of our lip products, super hydrating and buttery smooth.
This tinted lip balm is so pretty! It looks pretty dark in the tube – a deep rosy red with a hint of shimmer, but is more sheer upon application. It’s still a cool rosy red, but is lighter with a bit of gloss. It seems perfect for everyday wear. It smells really nice and minty, almost chocolate-minty, and that scent comes from organic peppermint oil (and perhaps the chocolatey note comes from the cocoa butter ingredient). It’s made with almost all organic ingredients, which is awesome, and feels like it would be nice and hydrating. I really think I’ll like this one, but I almost hope I don’t since this is another item retiring along with the Oui Fresh brand. At least I can enjoy this one tube of it!
Overall this was such a great purchase and I’m excited about each item that arrived in this mystery box! While it might be apparent that I’m sad to see the Oui Fresh brand go, I’m really glad I got my hands on at least one box to try. I’m hopeful they have another flash sale like this because it really was a good deal. All of this for $5 plus shipping?! That’s almost free! I’ll be keeping my eyes peeled as they get closer to closing. You should too! 😉
