Oxalis Apothecary: Wildflower Clay Mask

Self-care care be hard to fit in but’s it’s so important! It’s like the trusty airline wisdom: You’ve gotta take care of yourself before you can take care of others. Masking is a fantastic way to self-care. Just mix it up, slather it on and kick back for a few deep breaths to relax while it does it’s magic. It makes you slow down for a minute and you’re able to take care of your skin while your at it: the only way to multi-task. This Wildflower Clay Mask from Oxalis Apothecary is one of my faves.

What it is:
This is a dry mask that balances and detoxes skin. The main detoxing ingredient is French Green Clay (or Sea Clay). It’s highly absorbant which means it’s very good at pulling those toxins from your skin. The natural minerals of the clay help to tone and replenish skin. The added lavender flowers along with lavender oil and Roman Chamomile oil help to calm not only your skin but your senses too.

Why I like it:
I like this mask for a few reasons. It’s quick and easy and has fantastic detoxing properties. I like how it dries quickly but doesn’t tug, pull or hurt your skin like some masks. The light tingling feeling as it’s drying is refreshing and helps center the senses. It also smells fantastic (like wildflowers) which adds to it’s power of relaxing the mind. It’s made with only the best and most natural high-quality ingredients too. And as a bonus, Erin- the creator, is such a lovely human being. She’s so friendly, helpful and thoughtful about how she creates her products.

Who it’s good for:
This mask is intended for those with oily and/or troubled skin.

When & How I use it:
This is a dry mask so you need to mix it with liquid to apply. It’s suggested to use about a teaspoon and mix with a small amount of water – just enough to form into a paste. You can also mix with raw honey, yogurt or aloe if you want to try something different. I mix with water in a small dish and apply with my masking brush but you can just as easily apply with your fingers. Apply evenly over face, let dry and rinse with warm water. It doesn’t take long to dry, but it’s long enough for a quick meditation or a little deep breathing if you’re so inclined. I like to do my masks at night and follow with a moisturizer for maximum benefits. I generally only mask once or twice a week to ensure I don’t overdo it.
