Subscription boxes are the best! They are a great way to discover new products at a great price, plus it’s so fun to get surprises in the mail. I especially think it’s a great idea if you’re into clean beauty or green living and don’t know where to start as they can give you some options to try out amongst the overwhelming selection that’s out there.
I receive several subscription boxes (that are all clean/green related) throughout the month since I’m a Choice Blogger for A Year of Boxes and I don’t often share every review I do here on my blog since you can find all of my past reviews here! I end up getting so many great products that I thought that doing a roundup of my favorite products from each one would be fun. Sometimes it’s really hard to narrow down because the curators of these boxes do such a wonderful job of picking the best products each month, but I’ve managed to pick a few favorites from this month’s boxes. I’ve included my review snippet from each one too.
Read on for my picks!
From the Naturally Crated Fall Crate (full box review here):
Nash Jones Clay Mask Trio ($36)
“Gently exfoliate dead skin cells, deep clean and unclog pores, lift dirt and blackheads, draw our impurities and tighten skin with these pampering masks.“
Three new masks to try out?!? This is a fantastic surprise! I love masks and think they are one of the easiest treat-yourself tools there is. They are great because they are often formulated for all skin types and are a wonderful way to care for your skin. These dry clay masks are a great replacement for cleansing skin as they are only made with simple, natural ingredients and are packaged in beautiful glass jars. The set includes a Fossil Mask that is gentle for sensitive skin, a Kelp Mask that is a clarifying exfoliant for combination skin, and a Lava Mask that is a powerful pore-clearer for oily and acne prone skin. Not only are these great for your skin but they would look very pretty sitting on the counter, therefore making your bathroom look cleaner and greener too!
From BuddhiBox (full box review here):
Gypsy Soul Organics Sister Wind Yoga Mat Spritz ($25)
“We love this woman-owned company, and just couldn’t resist some yoga mat spray with the name “wind” in it for this month’s Breath theme. Made with organic EOs, shake well and mist at any time during your yoga session. Spritz your face, neck and torso, around the perimeter of your yoga practice space, and lightly on your mat.“
I have a few other Gypsy Soul Organics products and they always smell so wonderful. This one is no exception! It’s a multi-purpose spray that can be used from your room down to your mat to calm and ground you just like your breath. It smells of eucalyptus and mint with a hint of lavender. It’s a very cooling and realxing scent and actually helps clear out my sinuses – which coincidentally leads to better breathing!
From California Found (full box review here):
No Tox Life Dish Block Zero Waste Dish Washing Bar ($12.98)
- Founded by a mother-daughter team based in Glassell Park, Los Angeles.
- Their company is entirely vegan and palm-oil free soaps are one of their popular products.
- They hand-make over 100 goods for bath, body and home.
I am SO excited to find this item in this month’s box. I have been eyeing it for months and had it on my list of things to try. Dish soap is always packaged in plastic so it’s great that this is a completely plastic free option. It’s almost engrained in my mind that dish soap is liquid so I love that this product breaks the mold- and I mean why wouldn’t something like this be just as effective?! You just need some form of scrubber tool (like those awesome scrubbers a few items down below) to suds it up and wipe dishes clean. I will be using this one a lot!
Ok, so there’s 2 items from the California Found Box because I love how they can work together!
LKLY Design Scrubby Set ($22)
- Quality handcrafted woven goods for the home like one-of-a-kind baskets and decor accents.
- Made with natural fibers including jute, cotton, linen and hemp.
This Scrubby Set is a pair of two different sizes of dish or body scrubbers woven out of hemp. They are thick and feel very sturdy for any tough pan scrubbing job but also seem soft enough for body exfoliation without being overly abrasive. I love that these were included in the box with the Dish Block because they make the perfect pair. Often times scrubber tools are made of sponges or plastic and hold moisture and get moldy so they are thrown out creating excess waste. By using natural materials these should dry faster and hold up longer than their conventional counterparts. I will be using these a lot! As a side note, you’ve got to check out the baskets from this company too- they are SO cute!
From Nourish Beauty Box (full box review here):
Wyldflower Labs Hawaiian Black Lava Salt Hair Masque ($32.99)
“Created with responsibly sourced Hawaiian black lava, sea salt and bentonite clay to give hair a natural, bouncy texture. Apply it on wet hair and leave it on for 10 minutes before shampoo wash.“
I’ve only ever tried a few hair masks as it’s not always something I think of needing, but since I dye my hair I’m sure it could use some extra TLC. I was glad to find this product in the box as a reminder to take better care of my hair. This mask is intended to cleanse and nourish hair. The black lava, sea salt and bentonite clay will help cleanse and remove buildup; avocado, safflower, grape seed, soy and flax seed oils will hydrate; and extracts of lettuce, cucumber, linden flower and sage provide antioxidants and moisture to protect and heal. It smells nice and lightly earthy too. It sounds easy to use by applying to hair after shampooing, leaving set for 10 minutes and then just rinsing. The only downside is that the container doesn’t seem that full so is maybe only enough for one treatment.
From Kinder Beauty Box (full box review will be up soon!):
EVOLVh Ultrashine Moisture Shampoo & Conditioner Travel Set ($15)
“This luxurious shampoo and conditioner duo visibly smoothes, increases shine & elasticity while transforming texture to youthful softness and improving hair health. Ideal for all hair types, this beloved duo balances pH levels and includes amazing natural ingredients like wild pansy, seet clover and apricot extracts plus amino and fatty acids which are essential for strong, silky, healthy hair.“
I’ve tried a leave-in conditioner from this brand before and I really liked it so I can only assume that this shampoo/conditioner duo will be great as well. They are made with a ton of natural ingredients (a nearly clean ingredient list) that are intended to give hair max shine. I need that for sure as my hair can get dull and dry, especially in the winter. These smell great too, like a soft and slightly floral grapefruit I think? Even though they are trial size, I think these should last at least 5 washes which is a good amount of time to decide if you like it before purchasing the full size.
There’s my September round-up of subscription box favorites. Do you subscribe to any of these boxes or have you tried any of these products?
