It’s been a hot minute since I checked in with my weekly Sunday Scoop. Life, man. For now it’s likely going to be a monthly-ish scoop round up instead of my overly ambitious weekly scoop post. I’ve still been reading interesting things when I can, but my frivolous free time has felt more limited lately. I’ve been trying to enjoy the weather and get outside more, especially since fall is bringing the colder weather, and that means the phone gets set aside. That’s a bit of a lie, what I should have said is that the article reading part of it is set aside and the camera part is getting used more for snapping pics of “baby’s first” everything. Speaking of photos, anyone have any great tips for organizing phone photos? It’s getting out of control! We headed to a pumpkin patch today so of course I added even more pictures to the collection. It never ends haha! Anyway, if you find yourself with any downtime this Sunday, here’s a sprinkling of articles that I’ve read lately. Enjoy!
First Things First
- This is very important information- Determining where Moira Rose’s accent on Schitt’s Creek comes from.
Life Things
- A look at mental and physical load bearing in marriages and how imbalances can take a toll.
- What to wear when you’re in a funk. Hint: it’s not sweatpants.
Green Things & Health
- It’s a bit ironic that a producer of bottled water would pledge millions to climate change research, but it’s good news none-the-less.
On Infertility & Motherhood & Being a Woman
It’s National Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness month this month so these articles are related to that experience:
- I’ve never gotten into the Harry Potter series so I don’t completely understand the reference in this article, but I have experienced miscarriage so I can only imagine Voldemort must be some sort of taboo.
- A beautiful photo series honoring women who’ve experienced miscarriage and stillbirth.
- 50 celebrities open up about their experiences with miscarriage.
- A month honoring awareness for Pregnancy and Infant Loss is wonderful, but will never be enough for those who have lost babies too soon.
- Finding the softness during the hard times of grief related to stillbirth.
Children and Parenting
- So cute: Apparently prehistoric babies drank animal milk from bottles that sometimes resembled animals.
- The pressure to breastfeed can hurt mothers and doctors are finally realizing it.
- Funny pregnancy Q&A from a bored obstetrician.
- Becoming a more peaceful parent by letting go of distractions and perfectionism. Maybe easier said than done, but makes a good bit of sense.
Pure Fun & Inspiration
- Bob Ross is just so wholesome and peaceful, much like his paintings. Here is some of his greater wisdom nuggets.
- I saw this a few weeks back, but it’s too cute and funny not to share. A wife had to miss her maternity photos so her husband stepped in.
- Seniors at this high school have a hilarious tradition of pranking the photos for their student IDs.
That’s all for this week. Have a good one friends!
